FAQ

Are the Ichobezi River Lodges in a Malaria area?

The Chobe / Kasane area is in a malaria area and we do recommend that you take anti-malaria tablets prior to and during your stay.

Do I require a Visa for Namibia?

This depends on your nationality and we suggest you check with your travel agent before travelling. However South African, United Kingdom, Australian and USA citizens do not require visas for Botswana or Namibia.

What can we expect during our stay with you?

Please have a look at the recommended itineraries to get a clearer picture of what a stay at either Ichingo Chobe River Lodge or the Ichobezi Safariboat will offer.

What is the best time of the year to be in the Chobe?

Every month in the Chobe offers visitors something unique to the area so we really do not have a bad time of the year. If you are looking for a purely wildlife experience then the drier winter months (Jun-Aug) see greater concentrations of game along the banks of the Chobe River. The summer months (Nov-May) sees the birdlife explode with the addition of the summer migrants to the area. Those coming for fishing will be excited to know that we have excellent summer and winter fishing due to the floodplains, it is just the techniques used that change. For an experience that encompasses all of the activities then there really are no bad months as Chobe always has fantastic game viewing and great birding opportunites.

What should we pack?

Summer: T-shirts. Shorts. Long sleeved cotton shirts and trousers for the evening. A Hat. Sunglasses. Lots of sunscreen. Swimming costumes. Walking shoes and deck shoes or sandals.
Winter: All of the above but we also recommend a wind breaker or light jacket as it can get chilly on the water in the early mornings or evenings.

Can we go into the Chobe National Park by vehicle?

This activity is easily arranged prior to travel or while you are staying with us. Please bear in mind though that it does involve doing the border posts again and is not included in our rates.

Can we visit the Victoria Falls?

Victoria Falls is only 100kms away from us and for first time visitors to the area we certainly recommend that you plan your trip to include some time at this incredible sighting. If you are staying with us for 3 or more nights we can certainly arrange a day trip to the Falls which would have you leaving after breakfast and then be back in your room in the afternoon. This activity is not included in our rate.

Are children welcome?

All children are more than welcome at both Ichingo and on the Safariboat. For children under eight we can put an extra bed into the parents room if necessary.
